The Deacon Board
Theological Rationale: Romans 16:1-2; Acts 6:1-7
The mission of the Deacon Board is one of service to the church. The Deacons are dedicated to faithfully execute the duties assigned to them by the Pastor. Those duties include: Preparation of the Lord’s Supper; preparing candidates for baptism; offering spiritual support and mentoring to church members; and working with and assisting other ministries as needed. As Deacons, we have a sincere love and appreciation for our Pastor, obedience to the Word of God and fervent prayer. We are the spiritual arm of the church.
 
The Trustee Board
Theological Rationale: Proverbs 29:18; Philippians 2:3-4
The St. Paul Baptist Church Trustee Board is an official ministry comprised of spiritual driven stewards dedicated to maintaining and managing the spiritual excellence of the church. The Trustee Board provides for the management of the physical building and to ensure that the church is well maintained and safe for all who enter to worship.
 
The Board reviews monthly/quarterly financial statements and initiates action to assure the fiscal viability of the church based upon its financial assets. To this end, based upon the church’s financial stability, the Trustees, in collaboration with the Pastor, Deacons/Deaconesses, prepare an annual operating budget. The board strives to be a ministry of integrity and vision.
 
The Rebecca Missionary Ministry
Theological Rationale: Ephesians 6:6
 
Named after the late Rebecca Hipkins Mallory, the wife of the late Deacon Jacob Mallory, who served as a deacon under the late Rev. R.H. Thompson in the 1930’s. The mission of the missionary ministry is to spread the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ throughout our church, our communities, and abroad; to convey the message that all believers are missionaries; to emphasize diligent Bible study for the purpose of renewing the mind and spirit; to produce active support and participation for our church and communities, lifting up the body of Christ. This ministry encompasses participation in the East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM).
 
The Shepherd’s Ministry
Theological Rationale: Luke 10:2; Luke 22:31; John 21:17
 
The mission of the Shepherd Ministry is to develop and implement plans and strategies to retain new members. The ministry will assist new church members into a right relationship with God through Jesus Christ and to help them assimilate into fellowship with the body of believers at St. Paul Baptist Church. The ministry will provide support and encouragement to new members who will enable them to find a comfortable place in the body of Christ where they can exercise their gifts and talents for the Kingdom’s purposes.
 
Sunday School/Christian Education
Theological Rationale: 2 Timothy 2:15
 
The purpose of Christian Education is to develop the whole person; spiritually, intellectually, physically, and socially to ensure students of all ages have an opportunity to become biblically literate. We equip our students with Christian life skills so they can handle life situations in a manner that is pleasing to God. We accomplish this through the following ministries: Bible Study, Boost (Wednesday Evening Service), Children’s Church, New Members Instruction, Shepherd’s Ministry, and Sunday School.
 
Usher Ministry
Theological Rationale: Numbers 1:48-53; 2 Samuel 18:24-25; 1 Chronicles 17
 
St. Paul Baptist Church Usher Ministry comprised of the Women’s Usher Board, Young Women’s Usher Board, and Men’s Usher Board, is committed to serving our Lord Jesus Christ by humbly standing at the doors entering His sanctuary. We strive to maintain an orderly worship experience meeting the needs of all who enter the sanctuary. Our prayer, God, Please bless our servants called to minister as ushers in your Church, that the sincere devotion of mind and boy we may offer acceptable service to you, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
 
Women of the Word
Theological Rationale: Titus2:1, 3-5; Philippians 2:1, 2, 4 and 5; I Corinthians 12:27; Colossians 3:16; Romans 125:1-2; Proverbs 31
 
The mission of the Women of the Word (WOW) ministry brings together the diversity of women in an inclusive and Christian fellowship through inter-generational caring and sharing. Our focus is to provide support, encouragement, love, friendship and spiritual guidance for the edification of the body of Christ. We endeavor to become the virtuous woman of Proverbs 31. The WOW fellowship meets on the 1st Sunday of each month.
 
Kingdom Men’s Fellowship
The vision is a ministry of men for men to grow spiritual maturity through the study of God’s word and faithful prayer. To be led by the power of the Holy Spirit and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A real man is a Godly man.
 
Nurses Ministry/Public Health Ministry
The mission of the Nurses Ministry is to minister to those who may become ill during church services. The ministry may provide services to those who experience mild physical discomfort and need some assistance. In addition, the nurses provide aid to those who become filled with the Spirit. The presence of this ministry is reassuring to families who need consolation during home-going services.
 
Music Ministry
Theological Rationale: Isaiah 61:3
 
The mission of the Music Ministry is to demonstrate and minister the importance of praising and worshiping God; to encourage the soul, inspire, and uplift the spirit and provide the mind of the congregation through song. The music ministry is comprised of the following entities:

Voices of St. Paul – 3rd Sunday, Beverly Reynolds
 
Family & Friends Choir – 4th Sunday, Parrish Davenport

Nike Mime and Dance Ministry
Theological Rationale: Psalm 149; Psalm 150; Psalm 96:1-2
 
The mission of the Nike Mime and Dance Ministry is to, through the Holy Spirit, give praise and reverence to Almighty God through artistic movement. We seek to work with the music ministry in a way that brings God glory and moves and inspires the congregation to a more focused and deeper corporate worship, while drawing unbelievers nearer to Christ.
 
Children’s Church
Theological Rationale: Mark 10: 13-16
 
The mission of the children’s church is to provide a spiritual, educational and nurturing environment for children during Sunday morning worship service. Children’s church allows parents and accompanying adults of children to worship fully and deeply without diversion and simultaneously allows the children a complete worship service experience geared to their age level, with prayer, song, Biblical education, church crafts and play activities to reinforce Biblical principles, and snacks. Children’s Church prepares children to be knowledgeable followers of Christ, to know the principles of the church and to fully participate in Christian worship services. Children’s Church meets on the 2nd, 3rd and 5th Sundays.
 
Youth Ministry Board
Theological Rationale: Proverbs 22:6
 
The mission of the Youth Ministry Board is to provide centralized leadership, focus and structure for St. Paul Baptist Church youth programming, which includes Youth Sunday (1st Sunday of each month), the Youth Fellowship Ministry, and the Scholarship Ministry.
 
Media Ministry
Theological Rationale: Ephesians 4:29
 
The Media Ministry is formulated and dedicated to carry the Gospel of Jesus Christ to our visually driven ever changing world through the use of: CDs, DVDs and other recording devices, photographic prints, posters, newsletters, flyers, bulletins, radio, television, newspaper, website and church marquee. Because we hold dear the content that we have been asked by the Lord to spread to the entire world, we will continue to edify and communicate the good news of Jesus Christ and the information about our church. It is our goal to extend the reach of St. Paul Baptist Church’s Media Ministry beyond the walls of the church I hopes of drawing others to Christ and giving them hope for the present and future.
